Citroen recalls 1040 C4 Picassos in Australia - octombrie 2012
CITROEN is recalling 1040 C4 Picasso people-movers in Australia because the starter motor wiring harness might wear through, potentially resulting in an electrical fault and fire.
The recall, part of a world-wide campaign, affects cars fitted with the 2.0-litre diesel engine built between 2008 and 2010.
Citroen Australia public relations manager Edward Rowe told GoAuto that the company had received no local reports of incidents relating to the issue.
A list of vehicle identification numbers (VIN) for affected cars has been published on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) recall website www.recalls.gov.au.
The website describes the potential defect as: “On affected vehicles there may be some partial long-term wear due to rubbing of the starter motor harness. This could lead to an electrical fault, posing a potential fire hazard.”
Owners of affected vehicles are encouraged to contact their local Citroen dealer to arrange for inspection and repairs to be done.
Mr Rowe said Ateco was notifying customers affected by the recall “in the normal way required by law”.
In June, Citroen recalled 42 C3 and DS3 hatchbacks in Australia over a potential problem with the anti-lock braking and electronic stability control system that could cause reduced steering control during braking.
A small number of C3s were also recalled in August 2011 due to a possible fault with the engine’s air unit fixing bracket.
The previous-generation C4 small car was recalled twice last year over potentially faulty tailgate wiring and brake assist problems and the C5 mid-sizer was recalled four times in 2011 for various issues.
Citroen sales in Australia were up 21.8 per cent to the end of August with 1168 units leaving showrooms, of which 102 were C4 Picassos – representing a slide of 46.6 per cent.

Citroen Australia has issued a safety recall on its C3 and DS3 light cars after discovering a problem with the ABS/ESP system that could potentially affect steering control.
The recall affects 42 C3 and DS3 models that were sold nationally with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) ranging from VF7SA5FV8BW631205 to VF7SA5FV8CW507478.
A statement published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) confirmed that “one of the components of the hydraulic ABS/ESP block may have a non-conformity in comparison to the manufacturer's required specifications.”
“This non-conformity may affect the operation of the ABS/ESP system. This may result in reduced steering control whilst braking.”
Consumers who own a Citroen C3 or DS3 in the VIN range are encouraged to contact their authorised Citroen dealer to have the ABS/ESP block checked and replaced if required.
Citroen was forced to recall a number of its models last year, including the superseded C4 hatch after discovering brake assist problems that affected over 1500 vehicles.
The French car-maker also recalled 151 examples of its larger C5 model due to a potential windscreen wiper fault.
Citroen has enjoyed improved sales in the first five months of 2012 with overall sales up almost 25% on the same period last year. While larger models such as the C5 have stalled, the C3, DS3 and C4 small cars have experienced sales growth.

Carros chamados são os fabricados entre 2006 e 2011.
A Citroen convocou nesta segunda-feira (18) um recall dos modelos C4 e C4 Pallas no Brasil, em virtude do risco de infiltração de ĂĄgua no compartimento do motor. São 97.238 unidades envolvidas, sendo 39.038 do hatch e 58.200 da perua.
SerĂĄ verificada se a vedação nos motores desses veĂculos apresenta falhas que levem à infiltração. O problema pode causar pane elĂŠtrica e, eventualmente, princĂpio de incêndio no compartimento do motor, com risco de acidente.
