Citroen DS 5LS unveiled, goes on sale in March

Will be offered with two petrol engines

Citroen has unveiled their new DS 5LS.

Designed specifically for China, the sedan has a Wild Rubis-inspired “DS Wings” grille that extends into the headlights. The model also has boomerang-shaped daytime running lights, chrome trim and LED taillights with an integrated chrome ring that gives them a three dimensional appearance.

The cabin surrounds occupants with premium materials including semi-aniline leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic accents. The car can also be equipped with massaging front seats, a premium audio system and an air purifier. Other options include reclining rear seats, keyless access and a rear seat entertainment system.

Detailed performance specifications were not released but the DS 5LS can be equipped with THP 160 and THP 200 engines. They are both connected exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The DS 5LS will be built at the company's Shenzhen plant and will go on sale in China in March 2014.

Spy Shots: Citroen DS 5LS is Naked from All Sides in China

The best spy shots so far of the new Citroen DS 5LS sedan, a whole flock of the things was seen on a parking lot near the factory in China, indicating that production has started. The DS 5LS is a new China-only Citroen DS sedan based on the Citroen DS5 hatchback. It debuted in December in Paris and will be launched on the China car market on March 28.

The Citroen DS 5LS will be made in China by the Changan-PSA joint venture that also makes the DS5 hatchback, and will make many other DS-branded cars in the future. There are currently no plans to sell the Citroen DS 5LS anywhere else.

The DS 5LS will be available with three engines: 1.6T THP 160 with 163hp, 1.6T THP200 with 200hp, and the good old with 139hp. The 1.6 models will be mated to a six-speed automatic, the 1.8 will be mated 5-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. 4702x1840x1515mm, wheelbase is 2715mm.



More chrome at the back with a fat strip surrounding the rear lights and a large and very shiny logo. But the best design feature is the strip running from the A-pillar to the boot. Chinese car buyers love Bling and Citroen clearly gives them what they want.



chrome on steering wheel, chrome on center console, chrome on center tunnel, chrome on doors. Citroen is the new Chrome King of China, without a doubt.

Silver is not a good color for the DS 5LS because it obscures the chrome.

Citroen Ds5 LS -o masina oribila , nu are nicio legatura cu Citroen, anosta,lipsita de eleganta si fluiditate,o masina germana, VW Jetta,tot ce urasc eu mai mult! Au reusit sa compromita conceptul NUMERO 9.

Nu cred ca are legatura cu NUMERO 9, e facut pe "baza" lui c-elysee.

Categoric nu are legatura cu NUMERO 9, mecanic si structural vorbind, dar imprumuta partea frontala, care la Numero 9 arata fabulos, dar la ' camila' asta e grotesca, iar designul general e lipsit de eleganta si fluiditatea care ar trebui sa fie definitorie pentru seria DS .

Most Chinese car buyers shopping in this segment of the market are rather traditional and want a sedan, not some kinda fancy hatch.The DS5 hatchback is thus not selling very well at the moment. Citroen hopes the addition of the DS 5LS sedan will change the fortunes of the DS brand in China for the better.

Eu ma identific cu cumparatorul chinez... si eu tot sedan prefer in general.

Mie nu mi se pare ca arata chiar atat de rau, insa aduce a Kia Optima (care totusi ramane mai ochioasa). E nasol daca designerii francezi au inceput sa copieze masini asiatice.

Citroen goes sporty with the DS 5LS R for the 2014 Beijing Auto Show

This is the Citroen DS 5LS R concept for the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The 5LS R is a racy sedan based on the bread and butter Citroen DS 5LS. The R is powered by a souped up version of the 1.6 turbo with a manic 300hp and 400nm. The exterior is prettified with a body kit, a vertical racing stripe on the door, and 21 inch wheels with typical Citroen-concept style alloys.



Interestingly, the chrome strips, the DS 5LS most eye catching feature, have been blacked out for the R. Compare:

The China-only Citroen DS 5LS was launched on the Chinese car market in March. It is manufactured by the Changan-PSA joint venture. Price starts at 146.900 yuan and ends at 246.900 yuan. The Citroen DS 5LS is a new China-only Citroen DS sedan based on the Citroen DS5 hatchback. Its is an important car for DS in China as most buyers in this segment prefer a sedan over a hatch.

There are three engines available: a 1.6 turbo with 200hp and 275nm, a 1.6 turbo with 163hp and 240nm, and a 1.8 with 139hp and 170nm.


Very black in here. R logo instead of DS logo. No Citroen logo. Chrome on steering wheel deleted as well. Flappy pedals.

Whether the R will see production is yet unclear, but it is not impossible. Chinese car buyers are more and more asking for more horsepower and more special variants and a car like the R might be an answer.
