Restano disponibili i motori a benzina 1.5i 8v Flex (93 CV) e 1.6i 16v Flex Start (122 CV). L’aggiornamento stilistico verrà destinato anche alla versione europea, ma solo a partire da inizio 2013.

Spy Shots: Citroen C4L shows its face in China

The very first spy shots of the new Citroen C4L without camouflage. Sadly we can only see part of the car but we will likely get the rest soon later. The Citroen C4L will debut internationally on the Paris Auto Show in September, it will then debut in China on the Guangzhou Auto Show in November.

The Citroen C4L will be made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, production will begin late this year and it will be launched on the Chinese car market in early 2013. The China-made C4L will be powered by a 1.6 turbo with 163hp or a 1.8 with 136hp. Earlier on we heard a naturally aspirated 1.6 would also be available but new reports seem to indicate this ain’t so.

Spy Shots: China-made Citroen C4L arrives at the Guangzhou Auto Show

Spy shots from the new Citroen C4L arriving at the Guangzhou Auto Show where it will officially debut on Friday. The Citroen C4L will be made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, it will be positioned between the Citroen c-Triomphe and the Citroen C5.

Price will range from 120.000 to 180.000 yuan. Engines: 1.6, 1.6 turbo and possibly a 1.8. The 163hp turbo will be mated to a six-speed automatic. The Citroen C4L seems to be a fine looking car with an air of luxury that will be much appreciated by Chinese car buyers. But!, does it have enough chrome? Front is good but I don’t see that much of the shiny stuff at the back.

Materials all fine, dash a bit messy in the best French style…

Facelifted Citroen C5 is Naked in China

The very first pictures of the facelifted Citroen C5, it was expected to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show last month but didn’t show up. Citroen decided not to bother with any show, the vehicle will be launched on the Chinese auto market early next year. The facelift included a new grille, new head lights, new bumpers and new rear lights.

Current Citroen C5, made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. Price starts at 176.900 yuan and ends at 298.900 yuan. Engines: 2.0, 2.3 and 3.0 V6. The 2.0 will not return in the facelifted Citroen C5, it will be replaced by a new 1.6 turbo with 140hp and 240nm. Prices will be about the same.

Changes at the back are much smaller. New lights don’t differ much from old ones. Citroen-logo gets bigger. We will, no doubt, get better pics soon for a better comparison!

Citroen DS3 Cabrio to come to China

The Citroen DS3 Cabrio will be launched on the Chinese auto market in the first half of next year as an import. Convertibles are not popular in China because of the air pollution, traffic jams and noise, but Citroen decided to give it a chance.Power will come from a 120hp 1.6.

The Citroen DS3 hatchback was launched in China in August last year and is selling in very small numbers, mostly because Citroen’s new DS-only dealer network just doesn’t grow. I was in Shanghai a couple of months back, workers were still building the first Shanghai DS shop. Shanghai is one of the ‘coolest’ cities in country and therefore a perfect market for the hip but otherwise useless and ridiculously expensive DS cars.

Citroen to give C6 flagship the axe

Citroen has quietly announced that its range-topping C6 sedan will be discontinued before the end of the year. When the last example rolls off the assembly line, it will mark the first time in several decades that none of France's three major automakers offer a luxury sedan.

The C6 was introduced in February of 2005 and billed as an alternative to German luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Equipped with an advanced hydraulic suspension, it has often been praised for its exceptional comfort but many have criticized its lackluster dashboard and anemic range of engines.

Citroen sold 7,600 C6s in 2007, the car's most successful year. Sales embarked on a free fall the following year and the automaker has reportedly received a little over 500 orders for the car during the first eleven months of 2012.

Citroen parent company Peugeot recently confirmed that it is not planning on replacing the C6. Instead, the year-old D S5 will fly the Citroen flag until the rumored production version of the NumĂŠro 9 concept that bowed in Beijing last spring arrives in European showrooms. A timeframe for when to expect the car was not given and many industry insiders expect that its debut is at least two years away.

Citroen C4L launched on the China car market

The new Citroen C4L has been launched on the China car market. Price starts at 123.900 yuan and ends at 169.900 yuan. The Citroen C4L is made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, it will be positioned between the Citroen c-Triomphe and the Citroen C5.

Loads of chrome inside and out, but the dash stands out. The shiny stuff is all over the place, around the air vents, on the steering wheel and even around the air conditioning controls. Chinese car buyers will very much appreciate.

When looking at the side profile a future hatchback seems very likely. Engines: 117hp 1.6, 163hp 1.6 turbo and further in the future a 1.8 which will price-wise fit between the 1.6 and 1.6 turbo. The 1.6 turbo will be mated to a six-speed automatic, the 1.6 will be available with the six-speed automatic or with a 5-speed manual. Size: 4620/1780/1498, wheelbase is 2710.

French auto market drops to 16-year low

The numbers are in and they're not pretty: The new car market in France declined by 13.9 percent in 2012, marking its lowest year since 1996. 1,898,872 new cars were sold from January 1st to December 31st of last year.

French automakers largely rely on the local market so it is no surprise that they fared very poorly. Ailing PSA Peugeot-CitroĂŤn saw its sales drop by 17.5 percent while the Renault group was hit the hardest and sold 22.1 percent less cars in 2012 than in 2011. Low-cost extraordinaire Dacia dropped by 9.2 percent but the lion's share goes to Renault passenger car division, which registered a steep 24.7 percent decline.

In spite of dismal sales figures, French automakers managed to hang on to a majority share of the local market.

Foreign automakers did not fare much better and their sales went down by 6.7 percent. Volkswagen has been able to keep its heard above the water over the last couple of years but the economic woes finally caught up with the company in 2012 and its sales fell by 5.1 percent, a statistic that is largely attributed to SEAT's impressive 27.3 percent drop. Audi and Skoda both ended the year in black.

Troubled Fiat group sank by 23.7 percent although, surprisingly, Lancia dealers sold 5,248 cars, an increase of 31.2 percent over 2011.

The Hyundai- Kia group bucked the negative trend and saw its sales grow by 28.2 percent. Mercedes-Benz and BMW both ended the year on a high note with increases of 9.2 and 3.8 percent respectively.

Commercial vehicles down too

While many in the industry expected the new passenger car market to drop considerably in 2012, few dared to imagine that the commercial segment would suffer a similar blow. The sales of commercial vehicles such as vans and pickups went down by 10.5 percent in 2012 while heavy truck sales slid by 8.4 percent.

"The drop in commercial vehicles and trucks is a very big concern because it is a telltale sign that the economy is slowing down," explained the Association of French Automakers in a statement.

Analysts unanimously predict that the best automakers can hope for in 2013 is a stable market. The French new car market is not expected to show signs of recovery until 2014 at the very earliest.

Citroen appoints Naza Euro Motors as local distributor

Automobiles Citroen has appointed Naza Euro Motors (NEM) as the official distributor for the Citroen brand in Malaysia, effective Jan 1, 2013.

Things will kick off for the brand and NEM with the opening of a 3S outlet in the Klang Valley by the end of February, which is when the model line-up to be brought in by NEM will be announced – no details, but expect to see a different (and expanded) range from previously. The month will also see the introduction of an official website.

In the coming months, new Citroen 3S centres are expected to be launched in both the northern and southern regions. Elsewhere, a dedicated call-centre (1-800-222-808) has also been introduced for existing and new Citroen customers. With regards to existing warranties for Citroen products in the country, NEM says that it will honour all warranties given by Automobiles Citroen.

Speculation about the distributor change began last August – PSA Peugeot-CitroĂŤn was rumoured to have informed previous brand distributor Brooklands Motors back in May that it was ending its franchise agreement with the Malaysian company.

Naza already has Peugeot under its umbrella, and the consolidation of the two French marques under the same roof follows a global direction to restructure the brands together in an effort to improve efficiency.

Citroen DS3 Red – adding a dash of colour

Over in the UK, Citroen has introduced a special edition for the DS3. The Red range versions are based on the car’s DStyle and DSport trim levels, adding on exclusive styling cues and additional equipment

As the term suggests, red features strongly as a highlight shade on the car, available with three engine options and in either Polar White or Perla Nera Black. The ‘Red Touch’ pack has the roof, door mirrors as well front grille and chevrons all done in Sport Red. Inside, the vibrant red theme continues with a matching red dashboard and door handle surrounds.

The DS3 Red models come with white or black 16-inch Ashera alloy wheels on DStyle Red models and white or black 17-inch Bellone alloys on the DSport Red versions, all complete with Sport Red centre caps.

As for extra standard equipment, there’s a Connect Signature pack, which includes Bluetooth/USB connectivity and an enhanced Hi-Fi system, and the DSport Red gets an additional City Signature pack on top of that; kit includes automatic headlights and wipers, rear parking sensor, electric heated and folding door mirrors and an electrochrome rear view mirror.

Now that Citroen is being represented by Naza Euro Motors here, might we expect to see the DS3 finally in the showrooms?

Citroen 2CV successor could be C4-based, due 2014?

Some of you may remember the little long-serving Citroen 2CV, or ‘Tin Snail,’ as it was affectionately referred to. Well, if Autobild‘s report is substantiated, its successor should be considerably less tin and snail.

According to the German publication, the model is codenamed the E3 Essential and will make use of the C4‘s platform. It will measure about 4.3 metres long and borrow styling cues from the C-Cactus concept (pictured).

A concept could be shown at the next Frankfurt motor show before the production car’s speculated launch in spring 2014 with a starting price of around €16k (RM64k). Word on the wire is that there will be two petrol units (82 and 100 hp) and one diesel (92 hp) offered.

Yesterday it was announced that Naza Euro Motors (NEM) has been appointed the official Citroen distributor in Malaysia, taking over from Brooklands Motors.

Dongfeng-Peugeot-Citroen sold 440.000 cars in China in 2012

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd (Dongfeng-PSA) in central China’s Hubei province on Saturday said it sold a record-high 440,000 cars in 2012. In a press release, the 50-50 joint venture between Chinese carmaker Dongfeng Motor Corp and French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen said it sold 223,800 Citroen autos and 216,200 Peugeot autos this year.

The joint venture’s sales also jumped 8.2 percent year-on-year, outperforming the industry average.

In the first 11 months of 2012, total vehicle sales in the world’s largest auto market increased 4.03 percent year-on-year to 17.49 million units, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The boost in sales has been partly attributed to the Diaoyu Islands issue that emerged in mid-September. Anti-Japan sentiment grew in China after the Japanese government’s move to “purchase” part of the Diaoyu Islands on September 11. Many Chinese customers have since snubbed Japanese auto brands, opting to buy from European and U.S. brands instead.

Details emerge on Citroen's 2CV successor

Citroen's general director has confirmed that the long-rumored successor to the iconic 2CV will enter production in Madrid, Spain, before the end of this year. Once thought to be the cheapest member of the Citroen lineup, a new report claims that the car will be positioned slightly below the Golf-fighting C4.

Called E3 internally, the car will take the form of a five-door hatchback that will offer seating for up to five passengers. What it will look like is not currently known but Citroen has hinted in the past that it will not borrow any styling cues from the 65-year old 2CV, making it a successor in spirit only.

Under the skin, the car will be largely made up of bits and pieces pulled out of the PSA parts bin. It will ride on the same platform as the aforementioned C4 and will be offered with a number of gasoline- and diesel-burning engines, including Citroen's new 1.2-liter three-cylinder mill. All engines will send power to the front wheels via a manual transmission.

The E3's interior will pack the lowest level of equipment needed in a modern car. Features such as power windows and a climate control unit will come standard, and tech-minded buyers will be able to order the car with a touch screen-based infotainment system.

If the report proves true, the E3 will be a new kind of low-cost car that will be better finished than Dacia's no-frills Logan but more affordable than popular compacts like the Citroen C4 and the Peugeot 308.

France's Auto Plus magazine reports that the car will make its public as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show next March. If that is the case, the production variant will be unveiled in Frankfurt next September and will land in showrooms across Europe in early 2014.

Opel brushes off report of probable PSA takeover

http://paultan.org/2013/01/11/opel-brus ... -takeover/

Opel has dismissed a French newspaper report that quoted government officials as saying PSA Peugeot Citroen may buy the General Motors subsidiary, says Automotive News Europe.

The report, which was published on the website of the Le Monde daily, added that the Opel-PSA alliance would be capable of challenging Volkswagen’s market dominance in Europe, citing French finance ministry officials and those within President Francois Hollande’s inner circle.

An Opel spokesman told Automotive News Europe that the report was nothing but “pure speculation.”

In February 2012, PSA and Opel’s parent company GM formed an alliance that aimed to yield annual cost savings of US$2 billion (RM6.04 billion) within five years, equally split between them. This saw GM pay, says Automotive News Europe, €320 million (RM1.28 billion) for a 7% stake in PSA.

Under the deal, PSA and GM agreed to share vehicle platforms, components and modules, create a global purchasing joint venture and work together to develop vehicles.

Automotive News Europe reports, citing figures from industry organisation ACEA, that PSA’s market share in the EU and EFTA nations dropped from 12.5% to 11.7% from January to November last year. In the same period, Opel’s share fell from 7.3% to 6.7%. Volkswagen’s, however, rose from 23.3% to 24.9%.
